The Rlaarlo Rog1 Remote Controlled car is a cut above the rest
Sometimes something special happens in every different hobby worldwide and the Rlaarlo Rog1 is certainly special. The press around this truck was great and looked amazing on paper, and I must say it would be wise to believe the hype.
1/14th Scale Rlaarlo Rog1 is a supreme Mini Beast
I like to call these small-scale remote-controlled cars, Mini Beasts. These cars carry power that should be meant for larger-scale vehicles and, the Rlaarlo Rog1 is a major player in this field. A couple of elements make this remote-controlled car as it has the upper hand in things like value and specification.
Inspecting the Rlaarlo Rog1
On first inspection this remote-controlled car is heavy and this is because it has a full metal chassis and plenty of thick strong plastic to take the impact. The Rog1 does around 50mph straight out of the box due to its 3600kv motor and the 3s battery that comes in the box. Other manufacturers offer 50mph mini beasts that do not have the capability from the box. Arrma Grom BLX is the main player in this league and ARRMA states 50mph speeds but they only supply a 2s battery from the box rather than supplying a 3s as standard.
Another great offering from the Rlaarlo Rog1 is the fact that Rlaarlo has used a separate ESC and receiver rather than the combined ESC and receiver used in most other small-scale Remote Controlled Cars. The Separate receiver and ESC mean that future upgrades and repairs would be cheaper as you can replace each part individually. You can also use your own radio gear with the change of just a receiver.
The Rlaarlo Rog1 is supplied with high-quality full metal oil-filled suspension and fully adjustable steering and tow and, this is also an option that is not available on other models. The Drive train is metal and comes set up with a slipper clutch on the rear differential. A slipper clutch relieves the pressure on the spur gear when you hit the throttle which gives a smoother getaway and acceleration.
Wheelie Bar as Standard
Rlaarlo has supplied a two-wheel wheelie bar as standard in the box and, I recommend you use it. A wheelie bar for the ROg1 completely changes the experience and allows you to hit the power and pop a wheelie.
Stand Battery Connector
Many of the Mini Beasts on the market today use proprietary battery connectors which, means you will need to use their desired charger and batteries, or you will need to customize the connectors which can invalidate the warranty. Rlaarlo uses a standard XT60 connector which opens up the ability to use many different Lipo batteries and chargers.
Driving the ROG1
To say this remote-controlled car is fast is a bit of an understatement. If you set the throttle to 100% and hit the go juice, it will wheelie or flip before flying off at an amazing speed. The Transmitter has settings for younger and less experienced drivers. Once you get used to the raw power you will be amazed at just how quick the Rlaarlo Rog1 is. Metal gears and differential alongside all of the other components and metal chassis means you can have confidence in the vehicle not getting damaged. We have jumped, crashed, and flipped this mini beast and it just keeps going.
Do you want more speed?
If you are brave, Rlaarlo has given you speed pinion gear in the tool bag supplied with the Rog1. This will give you more speed but, do you need it? To be honest it is fast enough and extra speed would just be more fun. More fun means everyone will do it.
In conclusion
The Rlaarlo Rog1 remote-controlled car is a true mini beast. I think that the price of £149.00 for a 3s brushless basher that can hold its own with the big boys, is a bargain. Other cars in the price point do not even come near the ROG1 on spec for price. The next best offerings start at around £230.00 and I can’t see the point of spending more money when you do not need to.
Rlaarlo is a Chinese brand but, they are not just kicking out mass-produced rubbish. They are offering a very good quality product at a very reasonable price. Because they are a relatively new company, they are just finding their feet in the market but 2024 was a big year for them representing some major jumps in their product range.
