RC ERA Bell 206: A Great Little Helicopter for Beginners

Want to get into RC helicopters? The RC ERA Bell 206 from RTR Hobby is a fantastic entry-level option. I got my hands on one, and it really surprised me. I’m usually not a fan of cheaper helicopters, but this one is different.

Unboxing the RC ERA Bell 206 and First Impressions

RC ERA Bell 206 RC Helicopter

The packaging is good. Inside, you’ll find:

  • Instructions
  • Spare rear rotors
  • Screwdriver
  • USB charging cable
  • Spare set of rotors

The helicopter itself feels solid. It’s heavier than you might think for its size (around 300mm). It doesn’t feel like a cheap toy.

Key Features of the RC ERA Bell 206

This helicopter has some cool features that make it easier to fly.

Six-Axis Gyro

The six-axis gyro helps keep the helicopter stable. It automatically adjusts to wind and keeps it level. It also lets you bank and angle the helicopter, unlike many toy models that only go up, down, left, and right.

Intelligent Protection

The anti-stuck protection stops the rotors if they hit something. This prevents damage to the rotors and motor.

Altitude Sensor

The air pressure altitude sensor helps keep the helicopter hovering at a steady height. There’s also a version with an optical flight positioning sensor for even better stability.

RC ERA Bell 206 Modular Battery

The battery is specific to this helicopter. You can get about 10 minutes of flight time per charge. Extra batteries cost around £12 each. To keep flying, get a few batteries. Keep one in the helicopter, one charging, and one resting, just like RC car enthusiasts do.

Built-in Light

A built-in light helps you see the helicopter in the dark. It looks cool and makes it easier to track.

Speed Settings

The controller has three speed settings: slow, medium, and fast. Choose the speed that fits your skill level.

RC ERA Bell 206 One-Touch Takeoff and Landing

The one-touch takeoff and landing feature is awesome. Press a button, and the helicopter takes off or lands automatically. This helps prevent crashes, especially for beginners.

Flight Test

I took the RC ERA Bell 206 out for a spin. The one-touch takeoff worked great. The helicopter was easy to control. Even on a windy day, it stayed pretty stable.

I even flew it above an abandoned RC car track. The drone filming it was about 60 meters up, and the helicopter was another 20 meters above that. It handled the altitude well.

My son even took a turn flying the helicopter. He was swirling it around my head.

Final Thoughts

I was impressed with the RC ERA Bell 2006. It’s small, but it’s well-made and flies great. It can take some crashes, too.

Is it the best helicopter ever? No.

Is it a good entry-level helicopter? Absolutely!

If you want to get into RC helicopters, this is a great place to start. It’s cheap enough to be a good gift. Plus, it has features that you won’t find on cheap toy helicopters.
