The ARRMA Fury 550 Mega is a Serious option<\/h2>\n

ARRMA<\/a> has given us a whole series of new (ish) 2WD options in the Mega 550 range and my favorite has been the ARRMA Fury 550 Mega. I have always been partial to a short-course truck and being 2WD is a bonus.\u00a0 The range includes a new Vorteks, Granite, and Fury model.<\/p>\n

Where did it all start?<\/h2>\n

The chassis underneath these models is very similar and there is no chance of upgrading to 4WD.\u00a0 You may ask why did ARRMA this and there is a very good reason. This works, you can pull the model from the box and get going with no fuss or bother and ARRMA has done this before with a model from around 2014. The ARRMA Raider can be classed as the Grandfather of the ARRM Fury 550 Mega. The centre chassis with under tray battery gives great balance and handling and with the combination of a light front end caused by the lack of front differential, the handling is great.<\/p>\n

The Raider was built to bash and hopefully, this has transferred over to the Fury Mega 550 2WD.<\/p>\n

What is special about the Fury 550 Mega?<\/h2>\n

The Fury 550 Mega is very well built. The Chassis is made from strong composite plastic and everything carries a good weight. There is oil-filled independent suspension all around which does absorb the punishment. The Fury 550 Mega 2WD comes with a 550 Brushed motor and an ESC that can support NiMH or Lipo 2s Battery. ARRMA has seen fit to include an uprated gearbox in all of the 550 Mega Boost 2WD models which means they are fully capable of handling the power of a brushless motor with the boost of Lipo Power.<\/p>\n

\"ARRMA<\/a><\/p>\n

ARRMA uses Spektrum smart electronics in these models meaning that the options for upgradability is great. You can opt for the Spektrum approach if you wish to retain your own Transmitter or you can go full ahead and replace the electronics in the Fury 550 Mega 2WD with off-the-shelf options. This would mean replacing the transmitter, ESC, and receiver as well as the Motor.<\/p>\n

The Car is a big beast and about the same size as many 1\/8th-scale models. The Chassis is boosted front, rear, and to each side with protection in the form of bumpers.<\/p>\n

The Body shell is very good quality and in my opinion, the Fury 550 Mega 2WD is a thing of beauty with futuristic body lines and a clipless body shell. The Tyres are big and made from a flexible compound which gives the Fury great handling.<\/p>\n

Driving the ARRMA Fury 550 MEGA<\/h2>\n

Starting up the ARRMA Fury 550 Mega is a good experience because it plays a harmonic beep sequence when it is ready to go. The controller has different settings for experience levels so, you could give this to a complete beginner and it would be a great introduction to the world of RC.<\/p>\n

Although the Fury has the 550 brushed motor, it is a 14T motor with a good kick and the model gets a good speed. There would be no need to upgrade straight out of the box as the model has enough speed to learn with.<\/p>\n

I found the handling to be very responsive and the car leans into the bends which takes a little getting used to. Remember this is an off-road truck and it is supposed to handle this way and I can say it does stick to the track.<\/p>\n

What’s coming next for the Fury 550 Mega<\/h2>\n

The ARRMA Fury 550 mega 2WD is part of a series of cars aimed at beginners and 2WD lovers. This has caused a little disruption with the guys who want to upgrade to 4WD and although ARRMA has no plans for a 4WD Fury, they are releasing an uprated BLS Version which has a bigger motor and is 3s Ready. This will be a very fast motor. The other Models in the range are getting 4WD versions so there will be a Vorteks 4WD and a Granite 4WD BLX. There is no need for a Fury 4WD BLX as ARRMA is releasing an upgrade Senton Short Course Truck Leaving the Fury as a permanent 2WD Option.<\/p>\n

If you want a 2WD vehicle with great handling and quality that puts a smile on your face, get one. It is that simple I loved the Fury 550 Mega and I think you will too.<\/p>\n
