Brushless motor and 60A ESC from Amazon for £39.99
Can you get a decent Brushless motor and ESC from Amazon for £39.99?
If you check out some other reviews on this site you will find my review for The Carsima M48s Subaru Impreza This was a good car with one massive problem. my nan could have run faster. The owner of the car was not impressed with the speed at all. Carisma Decided to use an ESC and Motor that in our opinion is too slow for the 1/8th Scale Machine. This meant that Our Group member spent £300 on a car which did not go fast enough.
Searching for Brushless motor and ESC from Amazon
It is surprising when you search Amazon for a motor because there are so many different motors available at the cheap end of the scale. Most of them come from Aliexpress and are produced in China because most are. Don’t worry too much as your stock motor was probably made in China. One of the brands that we see on Aliexpress is Surpass Hobby I had seen this motor for sale on Aliexpress and with shipping it was only a couple of pounds cheaper. the motor on Amazon was rebranded on listing but using Surpass stock imagery
DollaTek Waterproof 3650 3900KV Brushless Motor with 60A ESC
We recognised the images of this motor and decided that as these motors are very popular, it was one for the Subaru. The Motor arrived within 3 days of order so I would guess this is UK stock and not just a drop ship supplier. This is great because you might as well buy direct from Aliexpress if you are going to wait for international shipping. When the motor arrived it was packaged in a small white box with ample bubblewrap for protection. It feels and looks good in your hand. At £39.99 it seemed like a massive bargain. the ESC seemed well put together and unlike the stock ESC it was truly 3s compatible.

Was the brushless motor and ESC From Amazon a bargain
The proof of the pudding is in the eating as they say. It was an easy straight swap with the stock motor and ESC. My only mistake was that the battery connection was a Deans T adapter and the stock ESC was a XT90. This meant purchasing a small adapter for the one battery the owner had for £3. All future battery purchases will need to be Deans.
Once installed it was ready to go without any programming. I chose the 3900KV motor and I had watched a video saying the 4200KV was probably a bit too fast. there is such a thing as too fast. if it’s too fast to control then it will not be fun and it will crash a lot! The 3900 KV was perfect with the 2s. I could not clock the speed but it was fast. The 1/8th machine was flying. It was especially great on a rough surface. Sliding and jumping which it could not do with the stock motor.
